Regalia is required to participate in Commencement and is different for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral candidates. All degree recipients from Columbia University and its affiliated institutions wear a cap and gown. Doctoral recipients also wear a hood indicating the specific degree earned.
Bachelors and Masters Degree Recipients Bachelors and masters degree recipients wear a gown with a mortarboard (cap) and tassel. No hood is worn.
Bachelors and masters regalia is available for purchase only and is available up until the day of Commencement. Orders do not need to be placed in advance. Bachelors cap/gown/tassel is $55. Masters cap/gown/tassel is $62.
Doctoral Degree Recipients Doctoral recipients wear a gown, hood and velvet tam (cap). All three components are required in order to walk in all doctoral commencement ceremonies.
All rental orders are now condisidered late and must be placed in-store to facilitate arrival on-time for Commencement. Please visit the bookstore to place your order as soon as possible and to have your regalia rush-delivered to the bookstore.
